About Pursuit Boats

Boating Since 1946

Pursuit boats is a brand which has been in the making since the 1940s. In 1946 Leon Slikkers started to work for Chris Craft. It is probably here where the attention to detail as well as the hand-craftmanship (as the boats were made in this method at the time) came about. And while the company did not officially start until 1955 in Holland, Michigan, does not mean that Leon Slikkers was dormant during that time. From 1950 to the founding in 1955 Slickcraft was formed, making the 14’ runabouts. From 1955 forward the company has progressed, introducing the fiberglass hull in 56, having the SS235 in 64, and the selling of the company to AMF in 69. Again, Slickkers did not stop boat building just because he sold his first company, instead he pressed on and formed the Pursuit series in 1977. In the 80s the company transitioned to being Pursuit boats, and has held strong as a leader in the boating industry since.

What types of boats are produced by Pursuit?

There are five main classification of boats offered by Pursuit. These are the offshore, the center console, the dual console, Sport Coupe, and the Sport. Offshore boats include the Pursuit OS 385, Pursuit OS 355, and Pursuit OS 325. Center Consoles include Pursuit C 280, Pursuit C 260, and the Pursuit C238. Dual Console model are the Pursuit DC 325, Pursuit DC 295, Pursuit DC 265, and Pursuit DC 235. There is only one sport coupe model which is offered and that is the Pursuit SC 365. Sport models, not to be confused with the sport coupe, is offered in four models, the Pursuit S408, Pursuit S368, Pursuit S328, and Pursuit S280.

Note that Pursuit does not offer boats which are less than 25 feet. Most of the vessels that they produce are larger and will require you to have a larger boat trailer or for you to have docking and marina services in place. When looking for Pursuit boats for sale, check to see if the lister has a dock or a marina and if the services for the boat are transferable.

Who should purchase a Pursuit Boat?

The Pursuit boats are primarily for saltwater, meaning those who are located inland or those who typically boat in lakes, rivers, or streams may not find this brand of boat to be idealistic for their water activities. Additionally, the hulls design makes it rest lower in the water than your bay boat, skiff, or typical CC. Deeper water angler use is the optimal function of the Pursuit boat brand.
