Looking for Boats for Sale in Miami Dade County, FL

Miami is a city that is known throughout the world for being a hotspot playground for the rich and famous, but even though the city is among the largest in Florida, there is much to be said about Miami-Dade County, Florida as well. The population of the county is a staggering 2.71 million people making it the largest county by population in the state. The location of the county is prime real estate for anything one would want to do in Florida from wilderness rich west side of the county all the way to the impressive beaches of the west side. If you are looking for boats for sale in Miami-Dade County, Florida, there are some things you need to know.

Beach, Bay, and Lake Access

The main city that draws people to Miami-Dade County seems to be the glamor of Miami Beach. Where this particular beach is right on the coast, much of the country is located on the inland side of Biscayne Bay. The bay is quite large and therefore large yachts, mega yachts, and even larger vessels can be seen regularly in the area. Even though the ocean and the bays see most of the action, there are a few lakes located within the main part of the county, so you are never far from some body of water. Lake Lucerne, Miami Lake, Kendale Lakes, and Miami Lakes are just a few of the many lakes found in this part of the state.

Due to the many lakes and fresh water fishing options within Miami-Dade County it is recommended that boaters purchase a boat that can be used in both saltwater and freshwater. Some of the smaller lakes will require the use of smaller boats such as dual consoles, fisharounds, and walkaround boats. Some of the manufacturers such as Sea Hunt and Grady White have some of the better multiple use vessels on the market today. Should your desires for a larger boat take over, there are a number of easy access points from Biscayne Bay and right along the coast in Miami Beach. Sands Key offers an excellent area to launch a large cabin cruiser or yacht with little difficulty, but it is best to stay above the Biscayne Bay National Park when piloting one of the larger vessel on the market. It has restricted boat access in some areas.

Transporting a Boat

As the area is a hub for those looking to get out on the water, boats can be found traveling down most of the streets within the county, but many of these boats will be smaller than 35’ and therefore more portable than the larger vessels. When transporting a boat or yacht larger than 35’, it is recommended to stick primarily to the interstates of 75 and 95 or to the main highways of 826, 112 and 953 as the lanes are more accommodating to these types of vessels. When coming into the county from the north with a large vessel on I-75, the most direct and easiest route to take to the water is 75 to 826 and then connect to 953. This will bypass many of the tourist areas that can make transporting any size vessel a nightmare.

Registration

Visitors and residents alike should always be aware of their boat’s registration. Due to the high traffic through Miami-Dade County and the ever mounting theft within the major cities of the county, regulations require registration within 30 days of the purchase of the vessel. In between acquiring registration and purchase, the boater is able to maintain a copy of the bill of sale as proof of ownership. Visitors should ensure that their registration is up to date in the city, state, and county they are coming from before entering Miami-Dade. Out of state visitors that intend on staying in the county more than 90 days will be required to register their boat with Florida and abide by the resident laws of the state.
