Boats for Sale in St. Lucie County

Fun in the Sun

Growth is essential to any county in any state and St. Lucie County, Florida has proven that you do not have to be the most populated county to experience substantial growth. Between the years of 2010 and 2016 St. Lucie grew by 10.5% bringing their total population numbers up to 306,507 residents. St. Lucie County is situated on the Atlantic side of Florida and is comfortably located between sunny Orlando and the lower tourist hot spots of Miami and Ft Lauderdale. St. Lucie has a slower paced atmosphere that is attractive to people of all ages yet is still close to some of the more high energy areas, so more people are moving into the area for that primary reason.

Come to the Boat Show

Like most counties in Florida, St Lucie has an annual boat show for avid boaters to view new boats on the market as well as browse for any new equipment that might be beneficial to add to an existing vessel. The Treasure Coast Boat and Fishing show attracts visitors from around the country each year during the month of June and is held at Tradition Field in Port St. Lucie.

Transporting any vessel to the boat show is remarkably easy as the i-95 runs directly through the county. The interstate is quicker and has wider lanes to accommodate larger vessels over 30’. When coming into the county, the exit onto Florida’s Turnpike will provide direct access into Port St. Lucie and allows you to avoid the smaller surface streets that can be quite difficult to navigate when hauling a large vessel. For a more scenic route when transporting a boat, consider Hwy 5 as it runs partially along the coast within the county, but S Indian River Drive cuts off from Hwy 5 so make sure to avoid this area as traffic can be somewhat of a problem during the high tourist season.

Where is the Water

Florida is a water lover’s paradise and in Port St. Lucie there are a number of small freshwater rivers and streams, but the main body of water is the Indian River located on the outer banks of the county. This river is quite wide and therefore most vessels even those with deep drafts can travel relatively easily. The smaller rivers and streams are more suited for smaller draft boats and simple freshwater fishing vessels. From the Indian River there is limited access to the Atlantic Ocean and therefore, boaters may find it difficult to find a way to the open sea. It is recommended that you travel via S. Ocean Road to transport your boat and find a place to launch the vessel from one of the many docks situated along the coast.

Proper Registration

Like all of Florida, St Lucie County requires proper registration, boating, and fishing licenses for residents. Residents are required to register their boat with the county within 30 days of purchase and until the registration is secured, they must maintain a copy of the bill of sale or other documentation proving ownership of the vessel. Visitors do not have to register their boats with the state or the county unless they intend on staying in the state for over 90 days, but they do have to have the proper fishing and boating license as these aspects are regularly checked by authorities.
