Racer Boats for Sale
On the Edge of Your Seat
Since the dawn of time, one simple notion has driven humans to make machines that can master speed like no other. We first conquered land with race cars, but soon after, the sport of boat racing was formed. Racing boats test the limits of what can be accomplished on water. The art of boat racing is always evolving into something more. As a result, Racing boats are now more popular than ever.

Racing boats are high-intensity speed machines. Various levels of racing boats are available for sale, and each one has a different horsepower rating and several different aspects to make them unique to the individual class. One consistent feature that is the same for all racing vessels is the need to go fast.
Speed is achieved from the high-performance motors within the boats, but it also comes from the angled designed hulls. The stark angles of the front of the boats give the racing boats the advantage. Furthermore, the deep angle and long design of many of these boats allow them to plane quickly and slice through the wind without the traditional drag placed on standard style boats.
Buyers should be aware that the hull and the combined speeds make it nearly impossible to navigate sharp turns. It is quite common to have the bow of the racing boat lift from the water when reaching top speeds (however, you do not want to have the nose stay out of the water as wind could cause the boat to flip and/or roll). It is advised that only those who have had training in navigating at such speeds purchase racing boats.
Engine Placement
Almost as important is the choice of the style of engine for the racing boat is the placement of the engine. The standard format for the older racing vessels is to place the engines side by side within the transom of the boat. This configuration does cause the boat to be wider with the larger engines, but was thought to give the boat more stability while running. Configuration can be improved by staggering the engines to achieve the same versatility, allowing the boat to be made thinner as well. The new racing boats for sale today utilize this more functional format to allow for more speed and versatility on all formats of racing. Many Racer Boats have also started using inboard motors, as the design helps to reduce drag from the transom caused by outboards.
Seating
Unlike other boats which are designed for passengers to move about, the racer boats do not allow for such. When traveling at high speeds, such would be problematic to say the least. Due to this, the seating configurations on the racer boats are given priority.
Typically, the seats on the racing boat are situated in a vehicular layout, meaning that you have the captain’s chair and perhaps a secondary chair near the helm, but the remaining seating is bar style seats in rows behind the chair.

When making your boat purchase, it is essential to consider the HP as well as the handling. Some varieties have interior design features which cater more to the racing culture. Yet, the aesthetics are secondary to the beam, the LOA, and the console and navigation stability.
Because of their speed, racing boat operation is limited in Florida to certain areas. Before purchasing your racing boat, check with the FWC regarding the regulations and stipulations of racer boat usage in your area.
