Carver Yachts History

Carver has been founded in 1954 as a manufacturing company of small veneer wooder runabouts by boat makers Charlie Carter and George Verhagen in Wisconsin in the United States. First the two entrepreneurs set up their factory in Milwaukee, but later moved it to Pulaski in 1957. In 1963 the principal owners of the company became Walter Markham and Gled Nordin. Throughout the years, specifically in the late 1960s and the early 1970s, the company gradually started building larger boating options. Nevertheless, it wasn’t until the introduction of their innovative “aft cabin” style boat in 1982 that truly defined Craver to be the luxurious motor yacht builder we know and love today. A notable event for the company was the release of their biggest boat ever with the introduction of the 4207 MotorYacht. The name of the company itself dates back to the founders of the company and is in fact combination of their last names, Carter and Verhangen. The company declared bankruptcy in 2009, but eventually came back under the Marquis name.
