As part of the Brunswick Boat Corporation, one of the oldest boating manufactures in the US, Trophy boats has made its place among the top outdoors man/woman’s boating brands. As the popularity of Trophy boats for sale has developed, the company has evolved to include new innovations into their brand. And while the company’s fleet is only comprised of two selections, that being the console and the Walkaround Fishing Boat, it does not diminish the quality and demand of the boat brand.
Console Boats
Console boats are defined by their large fore and aft fishing properties. They are designed to have texture decks to minimize slippage. The center console of the Trophy Sport fishing Boats for sale are equipped with railing and deck hardware which diverts the line from the rail to help prevent snags in the line. DRS is also to be found on the Trophy Console boats to channel water from the cockpit and overboard through a dual scupper system. There are two main console boats offered by Trophy. These are the 1903 Center Console which is 19 feet in length with a 8’2 beam and the 2203 Center Console which is 22’6 feet with an 8’6 console. Both boats come equipped with a Mercury motor.
Walkaround Fishing Boats
Walkaround Fishing boats are a bit different from the Center Console boats in that they are designed for long distance fishing/ deep sea fishing. Where the center consoles on the Trophy boats for sale have a definitive pathway and a larger flat bow, the walk arounds are designed with a miniature “luxury” yacht appearance. The designs have high gunnels, thick bolsters, with rod holders and deck boxes. Transom areas on the Walkarounds are equipped with loading and unloading doors. Typically, the Trophy Sports fishing boats for sale within this fleet have dual Mercury engines.
There are four models offered for the Walkaround fleet. These models are the 2102, the 2152,2302 and 2352. All the models are 8 foot 5 at the beam. As expected, the model number corresponds with the boat length (so the 2102 is 21 feet).
The economical boat
While Trophy claims to be a well-built boat, it also claims to be an economical boat. For many, this would appear to be an oxymoron, but Trophy has seemed to pull off a fair coupling of features to cost. As stated prior, the engines on the Trophy boats for sale are Mercury drive. This is considered an industry standard. Additionally, the boats offered by Trophy do have a warranty. Check with the original date of purchase to see if your boat qualifies.
Construction of Trophy boats use a fiberglass one-piece stringer to bond the hull and deck, T-tops and hard tops of aluminum, through bolts are used on the aluminum plates with laminated stringers, bow eyes are stainless steel fuel tanks are integrated with the stringers and cross-linked polyethylene, DRS systems keep water away from the cabin, and PVS chases support wiring and hoses. This may be a feature worth taking note of (as some other brands use aluminum and steel chases). Overall, the boat is well constructed, but there is nothing which would make the boat a luxury class vehicle. Trophy Hull System on the boat decreases the weight of the boats to make them a bit faster, but then again with one engine your power will be limited.
Ideal Waters for Trophy Boats
Trophy boats for sale cover the two main areas in which one can fish, apart from small riverbeds and streams. The Center Console models are ideal for the gulf and for coastal fishing. This is primarily due to the shortness of length. Walkarounds are good for deep sea fishing, but buyers should be advised that they are not intended to be used for prolonged trips in rough waters. These boats are short and light. Heavy waves and inclement weather may not sink the boat, but it is unrealistic to believe that you can go out into the deep waters with a 20 foot low powered engine and not expect to have some difficulty in navigation should storms and high winds arise.
Ideal buyers would be those who wish to do recreational fishing in the Atlantic or the Gulf and then haul the boat home when done. It is not best for the professional fisherman or for those who wish to stay in deep waters for long periods of time.
