Alura, hull number 12 from the storied Niagara-Nautic & Aztec yard, is a classically-styled pilothouse cutter that affords comfort, ease of maintenance, and the desirable craftsmanship that is a hallmark of yachts of her vintage. This vessel has been lovingly owned and cruised from day one, and appropriate updates have been made to keep her modernized and seaworthy for years to come. Most notably, Alura has received a brand new mast, boom, Harken roller furling, and stainless steel standing rigging.

Stepping aboard one feels an immediate sense of security inside the deep, T-shaped cockpit. A large wheel aft provides a comfortable helm station with incredible 360-degree visibility. Deep lazarettes can be found port and starboard, affording plenty of room for equipment or supplies. Genoa control lines lead aft to a pair of cockpit-mounted Barient winches, and a third Barient to starboard controls the main. This arrangement makes for simplified singlehanded or shorthanded sailing.

As you step forward into the large pilothouse you are surrounded in luxurious, quality woodwork. With three captain’s chairs, a navigation table, double sized pilot berth, and secondary helm station, you have a safe, comfortable refuge to get out of the sun or rain, or simply to relax. A second, networked chartplotter, autopilot, and additional engine controls are to starboard, and all floor panels can be easily removed for engine and bilge access.

A step downward to the main salon reveals a large galley with refrigeration to starboard. Here you will find a two-burner propane stove with oven, and a stainless steel preparation table on hinges that can tuck neatly away when the cooking begins. A large pantry and ample drawer and sliding cupboard space makes this a truly seaworthy galley. To port is a booth-style saloon that coverts to a double berth.

Forward and to port is a large head with standup shower, while a forward cabin with tons of natural light and ample storage is just a few steps away. All upholstery was new in 2019, and the vessel is clean and inviting. Alura is equipped with considerable tankage. She can carry 50 gallons of diesel in two tanks, and 200 gallons of water in two tanks. She is made to go places, and will appeal to sailors at every skill level who value comfort, capability, and strength.
