Boats for Sale in Port Saint Lucie
A city for All Ages
Port Saint Lucie is one of the larger cities on the Atlantic coast with a higher population than Ft. Pierce. It is rather large covering 120 square miles, most of which is not on the water (only from Jensen Beach to right above Walton is on the water). This is not to say that there is not an abundance of boats for sale in Port Saint Lucie. With inlets of water from North Fort St. Lucie River, Palm City to the direct south, Indian River adjoining the county, Fort Pierce to the direct North, and the entirety of the city peppered with docks and water routes, finding boats for sale in Port Saint Lucie is quite easy.
Accessing the Atlantic
Unlike other beaches directly on the Atlantic ocean, Port Saint Lucie does not have a clear shot to the water. You must navigate around the Hutchinson Island in order to get to the main water. The easiest way in which to do this is to go from North Fork St. Lucie River to St. Lucie River and then take your vessel through the St. Lucie Inlet. Another option is to dock your boat on the Hutchinson Island, though doing so may be a bit hard to come by as the island is narrow, and regulations could prevent some crafts from doing such. The more reasonable solution would be to either purchase a boat for sale which can easily be towed and put in or to dock your boat near the St. Lucie Inlet.
Freshwater Options
Those who wish to boat but do not wish to get out on the Atlantic or those which wish to Fresh water fish, may wish to consider a smaller vessel for Lake Okeechobee such as a Ranger z21 Duel Console bass boat. Lake Okeechobee is located to the west of Port Saint Lucie. It is known for its large mouth bass, though you can find crappie, bluegill, and Pickerel in the waters. Apart from Lake Okeechobee, Lake Placid is within driving distance.
Water Restrictions
Because you have The Reserve on the Western side of Point Saint Lucie, there is a bit of regulations to the boating when you get close to the Willow Pines area. For the most part, you will wish to navigate the southern and western portion of the city. Again, as most of the county has inlets and such, it is easy to get from one place to another. Check with the city of Port Saint Lucie for the various licensing, restrictions, and boating stipulations.
What type of boat should you purchase?
Due to the Fishing and the bay/river geography of the area, more boats for sale in Port Saint Lucie will be oriented to fishing, specifically to bass fishing in freshwater, than others. Boats may be single or dual based outboard motors. Length of the boats for sale in Port Saint Lucie will mostly stay under 30 feet, generally, unless the person is selling a boat for deep sea Atlantic fishing.
Atlantic Fishing boats will be more powerful and have 3 to 4 engines with substantial HP. On the freshwater boats, a hardtop and extras may not be present. However, if you wish to go beyond Indian River, you should seek out a boat which has a T-top, a sleeping cabin, and such amenities as you will be in the sun. Keep in mind that the larger boats will need to be docked somewhere, and though there are places within Port St. Lucie to dock your craft, you will need to consider transportation and whether you wish to navigate the Lucie River to gain access to the Atlantic. Craft which exceeds 40 feet will need to have a lift or be docked on a water which connects directly to the Atlantic.
