The Viking Sport Yacht 48SC is sometimes referred to as the 48 Open. It is a sleek design which is intended to both be seen and to function well as a sports vessel. While the 42SC brings some of the features to the Viking brand, the 48SC carries on the design a bit further. The extra 6 feet on the LOA allows for the SC to have a tournament ready design while providing extra comfort for passengers when used as a cruising vessel.
The 48SC basics
The Viking 48SC offers the three-sided fiberglass and air conditioned deckhouse, Additionally, the 48SC has a fiberglass hardtop and is designed to have a higher level of versatility in the control room. Because the Viking Sport 48SC is primarily for the angler, you will find a number of bait coolers, recess fish and stowage wells, observation areas, non-slip surfaces on the stern and transom, rod holders, and of course the radar and GPS navigation systems.
The Viking 48SC differs from the Viking ST in that it does not focus on the fishing tower. It is oriented to more of the cruising experience with the fishing being used on the stern of the boat. The bow of the boat does have the higher gunwale which gives it that distinctive angler appearance. Additionally, the bridge and the bow merge as one piece.
The ride is smooth on the Viking Sport Yacht 48SC as the beam is a bit larger on this Deep Vee Hull then on other yachts. Measuring 17 over the common 15’ to 16’ beam, there is a lower rocking to the steering and a tighter navigation on turns. Given the weight of the vessel, the two foot difference to the beam adds substantial space on the stern for the angler as well as helps to optimize the cabin space below deck.
Cabin
The Cabin of the Viking Sport Yacht SC is totally contained in the bow of the vessel. This is on a 2 stateroom layout with a large seating area and galley. Optional arrangements to the staterooms are available. On the base arrangement, the mater stateroom has a king sized bed and two closets. A full size bathroom and shower is attached via a small hallway. This hallway also gives access to the second stateroom. Upon entering the cabin space from the bridge, you will find yourself in the livingroom/ galley of the vessel.
As this is an inboard motored Yacht, the stern and transom is dedicated to housing the larger motors.
